I started as the typical affiliate dad

A great job that pays good money, great partner and 2 fantastic kids, both in single figures. We’d just moved to a new house so finances were tight to say the least. I needed affiliate marketing training programs that would fit around work.

It was Aug 2008 I was sitting in the garden that we’d all grown to love so much, after living in London for the last 23 years, a large garden was a luxury we all made use of. I’d just come home from work after getting the news I was going to lose my job.

There was a recession taking place, I really wasn’t that phased, I’d great experience and skills to offer…

That program I was a total piece of crap. I got DVD’s, books and a pep talk phone call once a week from a guy in the US.

It wasn’t until I was $10’000 lighter did I pull the trigger – with no results to show.

It’s a friggin horrible feeling to know you’ve just been suckkered out of hard earned cash to the tune of $10K

The job cuts came in December, December 8th to be exact, I knew getting a job before Christmas wasn’t going to happen. I decided to take a long break and spend some quality time with the family and resume job hunting in the new year.

It’s Now Or Never

I hadn’t given up on the idea of affiliate marketing, I trawled through blog post after article after webpage, having been victim to a virtual scam I knew what BS smelt like and that’s all I could smell was BS, each new site I found promised $1000′s in the first month or 2 and that crap I didn’t wash anymore!

It took me 12 days of searching before I found what I was looking for.

In 2008 I didn’t have a clue where to look for good affiliate marketing training that would REALLY help. I wasted a few thousand before I got wise. Once you have a program that works, trying to find the best affiliate marketing training programs after the fact is a complete waste of time not to mention money.

The Wealthy Affiliate Training Program

Back then the basic affiliate training program was eight weeks long. It took complete a complete novice like me step by step through a process of setting up an affiliate website and earning money from it. Of course it was different back in 2008 and most websites were built on html. However at Wealthy Affiliate they also suggested I start with a Squidoo lens which worked excellently for me - I had earned almost $600 by week six of training!

It was that saturday morning when I suddenly realized that I could earn real bill paying cash online and the way I made a living changed forever.

A lot has changed in the online world since 2008, but the WA affiliate training program has always been on point with advances in the world of marketing. Today they’ll teach you how to set up a wordpress and earn an income using current marketing techniques that work. The training program is free to join and perfect for a dad looking to add a few extra $$ to the pot.

I dare say that it’s a lot harder to get seen among the clutter and crap online in 2014 than it was in 2008, but you’ll be guide and shown how successful online businesses are built IF you don’t lose focus and work your way through the training.

This is a 10-lesson course that is part of the Wealthy Affiliate Online Entrepreneur Certification that takes place now in 2014. It walks you through the steps of creating a successful online business that generates “bill paying cash”.

There are plenty of lessons after that that have been produced by the owners Kyle & Carson – plus an absolute mine of training and information produced by other WA members, even me.

Best Affiliate Marketing Training Programs For Dads

As I stated at the start I’m pretty typical as a dad, which means that I wanted more, just like Heisenberg! BUT… Once you have a program that works, trying to find the best affiliate marketing training programs after the fact is a complete waste of time not to mention money. remember that line?

It’s in the post twice because it needs to sink in, but I promised you the best for working dads so these are the ones I’d put into that category.

The other programs that I tried that I do rate you’ll find below – The links will open in a new windows soz about that!

Wealthy Affiliate – This is without doubt the best of the bunch for me. WA has the tools and the training to really add value to their membership. Even with a totally free account you can follow along with training such as you see in the diagram above. The community is one of the most active and supportive that I’ve even been in and that support comes from me too. ;)

Chris Farrell Membership – This is another good place to start but after a few months there I began to feel that I’d already outgrown the training, it’s not really setup for anyone past basic level. But you can learn affiliate marketing there at the very least. And Chris has some good facebook, traffic, and WP plugin tutorials on the site.

Bring The Fresh (aff) – I joined BTF in 2010 after I had all my websites hacked and deleted… I wanted a quick and easy way to rank affiliate websites. At bring the fresh I learned techniques and methods to rank sites, launch jacking and a whole bunch of ninja SEO stuff, most of which this was in the forums. I was earning again in no time at all. What I used then would NOT work now. But just like WA BTF has evolved and a new fast start for 2014 is recommended by Kelly.

Affilorama (aff) – I’ve a membership to this group and I am reviewing the training for the ratedbytony.com site. So far I’m liking the basic training and tools they have. But there are a couple of issues I have. The constant email upsells for ‘other‘ affiliate marketing offers is a real put off and something that Mark Ling, the owner should address IMO. Also the advanced training can become pretty expensive once you start adding things up, which doesn’t suit dads on a budget!
