One of the mind boggling questions that keeps new affiliate’s guessing is what type of affiliate website shall I build? I’m going to be honest here, probably all experienced marketers wonder the same thing as they enter a new niche.
Your affiliate site can take many guises, it could be a straight review site, an information site a sales pages to a single products or a weblog such as our site here at mission0ps.com.
It’s often a question we see over at wealthy affiliate from the folks who have just joined. A couple of years ago everybody was of the mindset including me that we must to go into a niche but we we’re passionate about and knowledgeable about.
However that is a pretty old hat idea when you think about it. One of our awesome ambassadors from wealthy affiliate Nathaniell, spelt it out pretty sweetly in this post. You’ll see after reading Nathaniell’s’ post why we no longer have to be experts to enter a niche.
Types Of Sites You Can Build
Whilst I was in the support area of wealthy affiliate I stumbled across a few sites from our students that thought you should see to get a glimpse of what you can build.
They are all very different niches and demonstrate brilliantly that any subject matter can be turned into an online income.
Hopefully after reading this post you’ll have a better idea of what type of affiliate website you should build. All the sites below are built using wordpress which you can get up and running in less than a minute.
The first website is from a Wealthy Affiliate member called Jennifer. She’s based in the US and been a member for just under 7 months and has picked a niche review website for her first website. Jennifer’s target audience is women that hunt and her website can be found at pinkcrossbow.com.
I admire that Jennifer has chosen a hobby that she enjoys as her first niche site. There’s some great information on there and it’s personal. Her beginners guide to bow shows her own journey to get the right bow. You can tell that she knows her stuff!
Jen has monetized her site with Amazon and affiliate offers from related hunting and crossbow vendors. I’m sure she’s on target with that site!
The next website had be glued and browsing for about an hour! I love the subject matter chosen by Sethtra for his first website. Seth has been a member of WA for less than 6 mths and has chosen to share insights on Siem Reap Temples. The Siem Reap is a capital province is found in the north west regions of Cambodia.
As a niche topic you couldn’t get much narrower but it’s absolutely spot on. There”s a real sense of knowing after reading the posts on Sethtra’s blog.
As Sethtra is from the Siem Reap province he has some great detail on his posts, we almost take a personal journey as he walks through the temples. Coupled with awesome relevant images I’d say that Seth has hit the nail on the head with is amazingzon.org website.
Sethtra’s has chosen to monetize his site with Google adsense, Amazon affiliate links and a travel affiliate program.
The next affiliate site is one that I have a small hand in it’s roomfans.net and it’s been up and running for almost 4 months and starting to peak on Bing front page for the broad term room fan reviews. I’ve been at Wealthy Affiliate for almost 6 years hence my focus being on ranking in the search engines for relevant keywords.
This is a straight forward review site where I aim to have us complete reviews of the top 100 best selling room fans on Amazon. It’s monetized with Amazon affiliate links and a sidebar banner to a general home furnishings store.
Another site that had me browsing it far too long (in a good way) was upcycledbabycloths.com where Kathy mixes tutorials, niche information and product reviews. Yet another member less than six months into the training at WA with a lot great information in a very specific niche.
Kathy lives in Scotland UK and have a passion for art’s and crafts. She monetizes her up-cycled baby cloths site in various ways including with Amazon, affiliate offers and Google adsense. She’s also collecting email addresses to market to her readers later on.. Smart Lady!
Lastly I’ve saved the awesome information packed site of one of our members called Hilda who hails from Columbia. Hilda also joined just under six months ago and has stormed ahead with her website panic attacks buster.
Another personal account is woven into this website and Hilda shares what has worked for her in overcoming panic attacks. This is the more formal type of information site to solve a problem.
Monetized via Amazon, Hilda has done a great job of providing relevant, useful and actionable content for panic attack sufferers. She’s put a lot of work in and describes her site as a work in progress – its going to pay off Hilda.
Wrapping It All Up
There you have it we’ve five very different affiliate websites from some pretty keen affiliates students. As you can see It doesn’t matter if you’ve no prior knowledge about online business at all (just like those above) …
It doesn’t matter in what country you live in you live or what your first language is. Everything you need to create a website just like the ones you see above is available to you at Wealthy Affiliate.
It’s no coincidence that all the sites are members of the Amazon affiliate program, there’s a great trust flow to Amazon so new sites can benefit from their familiar affiliate network.
So answering the question of what type of affiliate website you should build, well I’d say don’t sweat it – when you get to that part in the training you’ll have a much better idea of which direction you’ll be going.
Isn’t it time for you to start building your first website?!
