There may come a time when you want to be tracking search engine rankings for particular post page or even a set of keywords.
Is there something wrong with my SEO, is it effecting attract your search engine rankings where on earth is that post I wrote in Google? All questions that a decent tracking tool will be able to help you answer.
Without putting your hand deep into your pocket, which is search tracking tools give you the best information on how you are doing?
There are plenty of ways the tracking your search position for keywords or pages, but I really wanted to show you a few free tools I’ve used to get the job done. Of course all these tools have upgrades and if you find useful. The three choices that I have mentioned below have great upgrade features as well. Plus all I’ve recommended here run in windows and mac.
Microsite Masters
Microsite Masters is a sleek-looking site that does exactly what it says on the tin, you are able to track pages in keywords in the search. One feature I love about microsite masters is that I get a daily email that tells me how I’m doing. Sad to say that he dashboard is really set up for upgraded Users, But there are a couple of me tools that you get with the micrositemasters.com free version.
First off the free version only supports one website and 10 keywords, however it’s enough to track most of my campaigns, I’m actually using it to track a series of key was associated to my Amazon training post on this site. Microsite masters do give you the feature of exporting your reports, however I can only do it one keyword at a time.
The most useful part of the dashboard for me was the scoreboard. That allows me to have a look at a graph or chart to see how much movement there has been on certain keywords ranking over time. It’s very visual and very instant. It’s a shame that they limit so much.
Rank Tracker
Rank Tracker from link-assistant.com and part of ‘SEO Powersuite’. It’s the oldest of my personal link tracker software. I actually have a full license to this and can say from experience it’s got all the bells and whistles you need in a pro version website rank tracker. A few of the keyword functions also ask you to sign into your Google adwords accounts for extra info.
If like me, you are doing SEO for clients, Rank Tracker produces an array of reports that will surely impress them. Even without your Google account connected you can track some really useful information. You can see how many visits each keyword brought and which of the search engines sent you visitors for precisely what keywords.
The kicker is you can’t export reports with the free version. As far as learning curve goes, I’d say that this one takes the most time to get your head around – However that’s because it’s got a lot more than the others built into it. SEO powersuite review…
CuteRank
Now this little bit of software really does live up to it’s name, and I really love the speed at which it returns results. I pasted in from a notepad the list of keywords I wanted to check ratedbytony.com for, and within 2 seconds I had all the results. With the free version of cuterank again you can only search one website but you can monitor unlimited keywords.
I suppose what makes cuterank so appealing, are the visual references, it’s really easy to spot your search position and like all on this page you can search from an extensive list of search engines. Exporting at cuterank.net is allowed, the PDF version worked best for me.
So there you have it three tools for checking your search engine ranking of your posts, pages and websites. Which one will you try, or do you have another favourite?
I do hope you find this post useful, please feel free to have your say!
