Earn money online - It sounds like a dream doesn’t it? Yet, for many people being successful online is a reality.

So, how do they do it? How do you make money when the internet is so busy and so populated with websites already?

In many ways, making money online is the same as making money in the offline world. Simply put, it is about finding out what customers need and then offering them it!

However, you should be careful not to be taken for a ride by the many scam artists, because making money online really is a little more complicated than simply pressing a button, or installing some magic software. Actually, earning money online will take work, time and dedication.

I’m not trying to scare you off trying to earn money online – in fact I think that it is something everyone should try at least once. My main point is just that you should be aware of what making money online entails, because if you are looking for an easy button, you are looking in the wrong place.

Making money as an affiliate revolves around selling a product, either your own or someone else’s.

Some people choose to develop their own products and get other affiliates promote it for them I have Instant GraFX  . In terms of profit, this is a fantastic approach, but it isn’t really the best way to start. You’ll find selling your own products easier when you have a bit of reputation and some traffic behind you.

The best place to start with affiliate marketing is when you are promoting someone else’s products. In affiliate marketing, you are connecting a buyer to a product and earning a commission for doing so. Usually it’s a % of price. I post pictures from around the web I like of cowboy hats on Google+, share my unique take on cowboy hats on my website, and even have a few video’s with me in my cowboy hats on youtube.

My website has links to cowboy hats on Amazon as well as other websites that I have become an affiliate for - Site A and Site B.

After a few weeks I start to make the odd sale of cowboy hats and other cowboy related stuff from clicks to Amazon, and the other affiliate sites.

I get paid and >> Soon I’m starting to show up in search engines for tea stained cowboy hat! That means I get more people that visit my cowboy hat website and I make even more sales and I make more money in commissions.

That in a nutshell is how anyone can make money with the affiliate marketing business model.

It might seem like you don’t make much money with affiliate marketing, but that really isn’t the case. The payments from 1 cowboy hat may be only a few bucks true, but they soon add up fast, particularly if you have a site with thousands of visitors each day (which is very achievable).

Getting Visitors To Your Affiliate Site

There are plenty of ways to promote affiliate products, it really depends on what works for you. Some people choose to review them. Others choose to link to them within a post, while others might choose to spend most of their times in forums or on social media websites like Facebook Google+ Pinterest and Twitter.

You can use any of these approaches to spread the news about your website, or you can use a combination of them. They are all effective for making money, but they do rely on you doing your research first and knowing what you are doing.

Having a Website Helps

One of the key things about making money online is to have your own website.

Now, it’s true that there are ways to make money without a website, but as a general rule, having a website is more stable and gives you many more options for online success in the long-term.

Developing a website takes time and people tend to find that as they build their website it will get more traffic (visitors) , and this traffic is absolutely critical to making money. After all, if no one is visiting your cowboy hat pages who is going to buy any products you recommend or see any pictures you have up.

People often get frustrated in the early days of a website because it can feel like the traffic for the site is growing slowly, or because no one is actually buying anything.
